POLISH FILMS IN SARAJEVO

On the 16 th of August starts the 25 th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival. In the programme of this year's festival, there are several Polish productions.

The Sarajevo Film Festival is one of the largest and the most important festivals held in Europe. Its first edition took place in 1995. Every year, a very rich programme waits for the audience, including in addition to famous feature films, meticulously selected short films, which have a permanent place at the festival.

This year's edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival is quite special for the Polish cinema. Paweł Pawlikowski will have his retrospective. The audience will watch his renowned and award-winning films, such as "Ida, "Cold War" and "My Summer of Love," but also less known, but appreciated documentary films, among others, "Twockers," "Dostoevsky's Travels" and "Tripping with Zhirinovsky."

In the children's film section, there will be no lack of Polish features. The Polish-Lithuanian co-production "Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs" waits for the young cinemagoers, and a little older audience will watch "Werewolf" by Adrian Panek.

The short film sections promise to be the most interesting ones. "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul and the feature film "Weightlifter" by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk will compete for the best European production award. In the non-competing section, there will be the screening of "Little Soul," directed by Barbara Rupik.
