„MC. MAN OF VINYL” RECEIVES A SPECIAL MENTION AT SHORTINI

At 5th edition of the Sicilian short film festival Shortini, that came to an end on 7th August, “MC. Man of vinyl” by Bartosz Warwas was awarded a special mention in the international competition.

This year two Polish films were accepted to the international competition– animated “Ritual” by Zbigniew Czapla and “MC. Man of vinyl” directed and written by Bartosz Warwas- and competed with other 22 films for the award presented to the best short film of the festival. On 7th August the jury announced their verdict and awarded the Special Mention to Bartosz Warwas.

“MC. Man of vinyl” produced at Polish National Film School in Łódź is an interesting example of docufiction that shows the origins of Polish rap music that historically coincided with the decline of People’s Republic of Poland. This is what the director himself tells about the story: Never have so many owed so much to one man. Close to the truth, although little known, a story of life of one man without whom the Berlin Wall would have never fallen, the Iron Curtain would have never been torn down or even the trousers would have never dropped.

Festival Shortini is the second time when “MC. Man of vinyl” finds itself among the awarded films. In October 2010 the film was awarded a Golden Lion at Taipei County Film Festival in Taiwan.
