Festival in Ottawa is one of the oldest and the most prominent festivals among those dedicated to animated production in North America. Founded in 1976, it was at first organized every two years. Ottawa was a perfect settlement for the festival – there were first private studios established there, while the animation community with its mentor Norman Mc Laren created a favorable atmosphere for the new festival. From 2005 the festival is organized annually in the capital of Canada and the student competition – initiated in 1997 as a separate event – is now a part of the festival. This year Ottawa Animation Festival will be held between 21-25 September. Apart from festival’s events the Ottawa festival prepared a wide industry programme including pitchings and networking opportunitiest taking place in frame of Television Animation Conference (TAC) organized every year from 2005.

Robert Proch, whose “Gallery” brought him a honorable mention for the best short film at Worldwide Short Film Festival, will show his film in Canada for the second time now. The film was selected to take part in Graduation Animation competition.
