POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL IN CLERMONT FERRAND

On Wednesday, on the website of the French festival in Clermont-Ferrand, the results of this year's selection were announced. In the international competition, there is the film "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska and the animated film "Beside oneself" by Karolina Specht.

The festival in Clermont Ferrand is one of the leading international festivals presenting short films. Every year, the film market, held at the same time as the festival, attracts a large film industry environment to the city. 39th edition of the festival is held from February 3 to 11, 2017. This year, as many as two Polish animated films are included in the international competition.

The first one of them is "Pussy," directed by Renata Gąsiorowska. It is a funny story of a young girl who spends an evening in her apartment. The protagonist decides to organise a session of pleasure only for herself, however, not everything goes according to the plan. Only within the last month, the animated film achieved considerable success. It won, among others, the prestigious Grand Jury award at the festival AFI Fest in the USA and as many as four awards at the festivals in Germany. Now, it has a great opportunity to win at the festival in Sundance.

Another film, which will compete for the awards in February, is "Beside oneself" by Karolina Specht. It is a minimalist, black-and-white animated film, which shows how deceptive the process of replacing the reality with illusion and imaginations can be. It tells how sometimes we want so much to see someone else in another human being, and how easy it is to fly off the handle when our imaginations are confronted with the reality.

As every year, Polish films will also be present during the Film Market, organised at the festival. The stand of POLISH SHORTS, prepared by Krakow Film Foundation with the support of Polish Film Institute, will be one of several dozens of national stands, presenting the short film output of countries from around the world.
