POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL PUNTO Y RAYA

The festival Punto y Raya, the most important abstract film festival, has announced the list of films qualified for this year's competition. There are a couple of Polish animated films there

The festival Punto y Raya is an international festival dedicated to abstract film. It has been operating since 2007, thanks to the efforts of the non-profit organisation MAD (Moviment D'Alliberament Digital), the permanent headquarters of which are located in Barcelona, Spain. So far, five editions were held, and the latest one takes place in October, in Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The concept behind the festival is extremely simple: Punto is a dot, and Raya - a line. No recognisable forms, only dots and lines. All the rest is the colour, rhythm, sound, enclosed in short film forms. This year, 842 works from 54 countries were submitted to the festival, and 116 of them were selected, including 5 films from Poland:

"Sto(ne)s" by Marcin Giżycki

"Le Sol" by Maciej Bączyk

"Letters. Eho" by Aga Jastrząb

"Transformatio" by Jan Walentek

"Ink meets blank" by Tymon Albrzykowski and Sebastian Ładyżyński

"Side by side" by Anna Beata Barańska and Michał Barański

Festival will be held from 20th-23rg October. You can check the full list of the films on the festival's website.
