POLISH ANIMATED FILMS IN REYKJAVIK

Four Polish animated films are invited to this year's edition of the festival RIFF.

RIFF is the largest Icelandic film festival, within the frames of which feature-length and short films are shown every year. Each year, in the programme of the festival you can watch about 100 films produced in over 40 countries. This year's twelfth edition of the festival is held from September 29 to October 9.

In addition to Polish feature films, which will be shown within the frames of the programme "Focus on Poland," the audience will have the opportunity to watch a couple of Polish animated films.

"Domestication" by Sylwia Gaweł is a film about a man's rather peculiar relationship with animals. The protagonist, a collector of exotic reptiles and birds, lives in an apartment full of cages and aquariums. In the labyrinth of lush vegetation, he cares for the animals every day, at the same time carefully controlling their behaviour. Brought home, a small caiman unexpectedly destroys the patiently developed order. In her animated film, Sylwia Gaweł reveals the essence of human domination.

"Fences" by Natalia Krawczuk tells a couple of stories, the common denominator of which are fences, both the real ones and those which do not exist. Everyone needs their space, but not everybody can share it with others.

"Creatures" by Tessa Moul-Milewska is a grotesque love story. This raw cutout animation, inspired by the works by Roald Dahl, Lotte Reiniger and Edward Gorey, introduces the viewers into the unpredictable and eclectic world of gloomy imagination, eventually leaving them with the question: who exactly are the eponymous "Creatures"?

"A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec is a portrait of a man whose grown-up children moved out of the family home, and whose memories of the past fill the last moments of his professional activity.
