ANIMATED FESTIVALS IN OCTOBER

In October, Polish animated films will be present at large and prestigious film festivals. This month, screenings at over 10 festivals are in store for us.

The Icelandic film festival RIFF lasts since the end of September. This year, the organisers' attention is focused on Polish cinema. In addition to the discussion panel about the state of Polish cinema, Polish feature, documentary and animated films will be shown. The viewers will have an opportunity to watch "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec, "Fences" by Natalia Krawczuk, "Domestication" by Sylwia Gaweł and "Creatures" by Tessa Moult-Milewska.

At the beginning of October, starts the 13th edition of the festival Balkanima in Belgrade. This year, the viewers will watch as many as 9 Polish animated films. The following Polish animated films were admitted to the main competition at this year's edition of the festival: "Locus" by Anita Kwiatkowska Naqvi, "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajeck and "Christmas Dinnersaurs" by Kamil Kukło. In the student film competition, as many as five Polish films will compete: "Traces of emphemeral" by Agnieszka Waszczeniuk, "Beside oneself" by Karolina Specht, "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska, "Leaven" by Artur Hanaj and "Fury" by Paulina Wyrt. In European Panorama, "Cosmos" by Daria Kopiec will be shown. The festival lasts until October 8.

Marcin Podolec enjoys the run of luck this autumn. "A Documentary Film," apart from the screening in Reykjavik, will be shown at Cineast in Luxembourg, at DocsDF in Mexico, and at Primanima in Hungary. "The Gentle Giant" will compete in the competitions in the Netherlands and Hungary.

Also "Gyros Dance" will be shown to the viewers twice: at the festivals in the Netherlands and in Portugal.

At the most important abstract film festival Punto y Raya, 5 Polish animated films will be shown: "Sto(ne)s" by Marcin Giżycki, "Le Sol" by Maciej Bączyk, "Letters.Eho" by Aga Jarząb, "Transformatio" by Jan Walentek, "Ink meets blank" by Tymon Albrzykowski  and "Side by side" by Anna Beata Barańska and Michał Barański.
