“EVEN MICE BELONG IN HEAVEN” AND "VYRAJ" WITH SPECIAL MENTIONS

For Polish cinema, it was an exceptionally successful edition of the Estonian festival . Our productions triumphed in the most important categories at PÖFF | Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. One of the awards, a special mentions, went to the creators of the animated co-production :Even Mice Belong in Heaven" and director of short fiction film "Vyraj".

Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival was founded in 1997 and has been considered one of the most important festivals in Northern Europe ever since. Every year, more than 1000 guests take part in the event, including foreign industry delegations and journalists. The program features over 250 feature length films and 300 shorts. The festival is attended by 80,000 viewers each year.

Honoured with a special mention, Denisa Grimmova and Jan Bubeniček's Even Mice Belong in Heaven is a Czech-French-Polish-Slovak co-production. The film tells the story of two mortal enemies – the little mouse Whizzy and Whitebelly the fox who, as a result of an unfortunate accident, meet in animal heaven. Both protagonists lose their natural instincts and become best friends over time. Together they set off on a journey not only to find the mouse's Dad, but most of all to find themselves and face their own weaknesses. Even Mice Belong in Heaven is about hope, love, and courage. It is a story of friendship that seems impossible.

In turn, "Vyraj" directed by Agnieszka Nowosielska is a story about Weronka,. She is living a happy and peaceful life until she learns that her father is ill. The world around fights for her attention, and the reality slips out of control. Playing with friends, her son Pietrek experiences something that makes him believe he can heal. Is it possible that the boy influences his grandfather’s health?
