POLISH ANIMATED FILMS IN OTTAWA

Yesterday started one of the most important animated film festivals in the world. Several Polish films and one trailer are invited to the programme of this year's edition of the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is the oldest and, at the same time, the most important event dedicated to the animated film in North America. The history of the Canadian festival began in 1976, with the first edition of the International Animation Festival, which was then organised every two years.

The festival has been enjoying huge popularity for years. This year, 2424 films from 93 countries were submitted to participate in the OIAP, out of which only 89 short films and 7 feature-length films were selected for the competitions.

Among the lucky films which will compete for the awards this year, there are also Polish animations: "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul, "The Rain" by Piotr Milczarek and "Last Supper" by Piotr Dumała, and in the children's film competition, the co-production "The Kite" by Martin Smatana will be presented. In the special competition section for commercial productions, last year's festival winner, Marta Pajek and her spot promoting the Tricky Women festival, has a chance to win a statuette.

In the non-competing sections, there are the animated films "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska and the co-production "Portrait of Suzanne" by Izabela Plucińska.

This year's edition of the festival is held from the 25th to the 29th of September.
