"MAGIC MOUNTAIN" AWARDED IN LEIPZIG

On November 1st, ended the 58th edition of the DOK.Leipzig festival. One of the awards in the International Competition went to Anca Damian and her feature lenght animation called "Magic Mountain".

In the International Competition Long Documentary and Animated Film, there was one animated film that represented Poland – a Polish-French-Romanian co-production "Magic Mountain" by Anca Damian. Film by Romanian director was given the MDR Film Prize for an outstanding Eastern European film. The jury pointed out that the production uses various film forms: animation, watercolours, drawings, collages and photographs, to create the atmosphere of naive storytelling, at the same time showing the brutal reality. According to the jury, "Magic Mountain" is a proof that the cinema is constantly capable of re-discovering itself.

The opening film of the 58th DOK.Leipzig festival was "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec, which was included in the short film competition. The non-competitive programme featured a screening of films by Witold Giersz and a masterclass by the Polis director. The 58th edition of DOK Leipzig festival was held betwen 26th October and 1st November.
