POLES AT CROATIAN TABOR FILM FESTIVAL

The tenth, jubilee edition of Tabor Film Festival set off last Sunday in Croatian Zabok. This year Poland was invited as a guest country to present its short cinematography at the festival.

This year three Polish films were selected to the international competition of the festival – animated “Noise” by Przemysław Adamski and “Sleepincord” by Marta Pajek as well as documentary “Written in ink” by Martin Rath. Another two Polish films will be screened in the EFA nominees programme – documentary “Paparazzi” (P. Bernaś) and fiction “Frozen stories” (G. Jaroszuk). The special attention was devoted to Hieronim Neumann’s animated works that will be presented in the very special retrospective. There will be seven films screened among which “Flight of the Bumblebee”, “Margritte” and “Five Quarters”. Saturday afternoon professor Neumann (who is presiding over the international jury at Tabor) will also lead a masterclass. Another workshop opportunity was brought by Tomek Gęstwicki representing filmpoint.pl Production Studio (also a member of domestic jury of the festival) and Paweł Czarkowski the founder of MOVLAB studio who will run a festival-long workshop on DSLR Techniques in music video production.

Another pillar of the Polish presence at this edition of Tabor FF is a POLISH SHORTS panorama that features the most interesting documentary, fiction and animated films produced in Poland after 2007. Precisely 39 are now screened in six sections divided by genre. Among the titles chosen for the screening the audience will be given the chance of watching: “Glass trap” by Paweł Ferdek awarded the EFA, numerously screened “Maska” by Quay Brothers or controversial “Till it hurts” by Marcin Koszałka to name just a few. The coorganizor of the POLISH SHORTS programme is Krakow Film Foundation.

Tabor Film Festival is going to run until 14th July when the festival laureates will be announced.
