ANIMATED „RITUAL” AWARDED IN ITALY

On 30th June the 7th edition of the Sardinia Short Film Festival reach its end. “The Ritual” directed by Zbigniew Czapla that represented Poland in the competition, was acclaimed the best animation of the festival.

Every year Sardinia FF screens the most interesting short films with the running time up to 40 minutes. There are four main competitive cathegories – documentary, fiction, animation and experimental. This year one of those top distinctions went to five minutes long “Ritual” by Zbigniew Czapla who received the award for the Best Animated film. The jury presented the award to Zbigniew Czapla for "the traditional technique, readapting their expressivity and giving the work an intensity and a poem of undoubted efficacy".

“Ritual” was produced in frame of “Young animation” programme by Munk Studio in coproduction with Lukafilm. Up to date the film was screened  at nearly 70 international festivals and last year it was the second, after “The Lost Town on "Świteź” by Kamil Polak, the most frequently screened Polish animation in 2011. “Ritual” is a  is a vividly illustrated record of the character's struggle with everyday activities. This short film raises a timid question about the complexity - or should we say imperfections - of human nature.

The latest Zbigniew Czapla’s animation – “Paperbox” – produced at the beginning of this year has already started its festival tournee in Poland and abroad.
