POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE 59TH KRAKOW FILM FESTIVAL

Polish short animated films are one of the most important elements in the programme of the Krakow Film Festival. This year, as many as three productions are invited to the international competition, and in the Polish competition, you can watch a total of thirteen Polish animated films.

The following films will compete for the statuette of the Golden Dragon in the international short film competition: the psychedelic  "ACID RAIN" by Tomasz Popakul, macabre and romantic "Portrait of Suzanne" by Izabela Plucińska and the melancholic "Vitae Azilia" by Joanna Wapniewska. Each of these films will also have a chance to win awards in the Polish competition.

The Silver or maybe even the Golden Hobby-Horse may go to one of the ten Polish animated films which also participate in the competition.  The films which will have a chance to conquer the jury's hearts are: "Cyborgy" by Adam Żądło, "Rain" by Piotr Milczarek, "The Little Soul" by Barbara Rupik, "Idol"by Grzegorz Koncewicz and Marek Serafiński, "The Land of Whim" by Betina Bożek, "The Hunt" by Mateusz Jarmulski, "Metro" by Natalia Krawczuk, "Re-Cycle" by Mateusz Lenart, "Red Light Train" by Alicja Kot and "Story" by Jola Bańkowska.

In turn, in the programme Kids&Youth the young viewers will see the popular film series "Basia"  and  "Basia 2," directed by Marcin Wasilewski, Łukasz Kacprowicz and Robert Jaszczurowski.

There will be no lack of animated films in the section KFF Industry, too. Seven Polish films at the production stage will be presented during the pitching Animated in Poland.

The selected projects are Love directed by Jakub and Michał Socha, prod. Letko, Family Activities by Paulina Ziółkowska, prod. FUMI Studio, Wszystko jest tak jak być powinno (Everything Is As It Should Be) by Maria Yakimovich, prod. Animated Film Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Meduzy (The Medusas) by Ola Szmida, prod. the Munk Studio - the Polish Filmmakers Association, Obyś nie musiała tutaj wrócić (May You Never Have to Come Back Here) by Anastazja Naumenko, prod. the Animated Film Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Miłość w czasach gospodarki opartej na węglu (Love in the Time of Coal-Based Industry) by Tomasz Siwiński, prod. Letko and Dog Field by Michalina Musialik, prod. FUMI Studio. Film-makers and producers will have the opportunity to meet experts who will decide and give them advice about the future of their films.

The 59th Krakow Film Festival is held this year from the 26th of May to the 2nd of June.
