POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AT THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS IN MARCH
After the long winter sleep, the festivals come back to life. In March there are, among others, the Belgian ANIMA, the Tehran International Animation Festival, the Tricky Women and the Mecal Pro in Barcelona. At each of these events, Polish animated films will be shown. Be sure to check out which films will be available at international festivals this month.
As soon as on the 1st of March, starts the festival ANIMA - the Brussels Animation Films Festival. In the competition programme of the Belgian event, there are five Polish productions: "III" by Marta Pajek, "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht, "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska, "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska and "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska. Two days later starts the 11th edition of the Tehran International Animation Festival. There, five Polish films will compete for the awards: "Three Women on a Bench" by Karolina Borgiasz, "Beside Oneself" by Karolina Specht, "Oh Mother" by Paulina Ziółkowska, "Bernard" by Anna Oparkowska and "The Rain" by Piotr Milczarek.
At the festival in Tampere, the latest animated film by Karolina Borgiasz will have its premiere. "Leather" was invited to the international competition there. At the same time as the Finnish festival, the 23rd edition of the Sofia International Film is held in Bulgaria, where you can see "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht, "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska and "The Other" by Marta Magnuska. The last of the aforementioned animated films will have a competition screening at the Turkish festival Akbank Short Film. In turn, the film by Ziółkowska will be shown at three festivals more - at the French International du Film d'Aubagne and the International Film Festival of Rennes 7ème Lune and at the German International Short Film Week Regensburg. At each of them, the film will have a chance to win more awards.
This month, there are as many as four screenings of the film "You Are Overreacting," directed by Karina Paciorkowska. In addition to the Belgian ANIMA, the film will be shown, among others, at the German goEast and at the Austrian Tricky Women/Tricky Realities Festival. The film by Paciorkowska will be presented in the competition at that festival, together with "Tango of Longing" by Marta Magnuska, "Three Women on a Bench" by Karolina Borgiasz and "III" by Marta Pajek. In the non-competing section, the following films are included: "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht, "Oh, God!" by Betina Bożek, "Thicket" by Adrianna Matwiejczuk and "My Strange Elder Brother" by Julia Orlik.
The film "Colaholic" by Marcin Podolec has four competition screenings this month, too. The first one will be held on the 14th of March at the Athens Animfest, the next one at the Roanne animation short film festival - Ciné court animé in France, where the latest film by Karolina Specht will also compete for the awards. The animated film by Podolec has a chance to win awards also at the festival NonStop Barcelona Animation Film and at the Mecal Pro. As many as eight Polish films are invited to the last of the aforementioned festivals. The jury will evaluate "Three Women on a Bench" by Karolina Borgiasz, "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska, "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht and "An eye for an eye" by Julia Płoch, which will have its international premiere there. In the non-competing sections, the Spanish audience will find three more Polish films: "Thicket" by Aleksandra Matwiejczuk, "Incarnation" by Barbara Rupik and "Eatself" by Edyta Adamczak.
This month, there are also individual screenings of two popular animated films - "Room" by Michał Socha at the European Film Festival of Lille and "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska at the Strangelove Festival in Great Britain.
In the programme of the 12th edition of the festival Glasgow Short Film, there are two animated films: "III" by Marta Pajek and "Oh, God!" by Betina Bożek. The first one of the above-mentioned films has a chance to win the statuette. The latest production by Pajek will be the most frequently shown film this month. In addition to the aforementioned festivals, "III" will be shown in China at the festival Hong Kong International Film, together with "Eatself" by Edyta Adamczak and "Acid Rain" by Tomasz Popakul. Both productions by the Animoon studio will compete for the awards at the American GLAS Animation Festival and at the Lithuanian Vilnius Film Festival.
