"MAGIC MOUNTAIN" BY ANCA DAMIAN WINS THE PRIX AUDENTIA AWARD!

During the 35th edition of the Film Festival in Istanbul, the Prix Audentia - the Eurimages award - was given for the first time in history. It went to Anca Damian for her Polish-Romanian-French production "Magic Mountain."

The film by Anca Damian presents the extraordinary figure: Adam Jacek Winkler. The protagonist of this documentary film is an individualist, he himself believed that in his passionate and simple character he resembles the character of Koziołek Matołek from Polish children's literature. In the spirit of anti-communist resistance movement, he left Poland in 1965. He lived in Paris as an emigrant, where he became involved in active struggle against communism. When he heard about the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, he joined the Afghan people and fought under the command of Ahmad Shah Massoud.

Prix Audentia has been implemented by Eurimages within the frames of the strategy for gender equality and promoting, as well as appreciating, the role of women in film industry. Its value amounts to 30 000 euro. Audentia (Latin) means courage and audacity. The aim of the award is to honour the women who had the courage to undertake the film projects which they made. This year, 15 films were nominated for the award.
