"SUMMER 2014" AWARDED IN KOREA
On Thursday, 28th May, the 19th edition of SICAF Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival came to an end. Among this year's laureates stands "Summer 2014" by Wojciech Sobczyk.
Two Polish animated films made it to the competitive section of the 19th SICAF – "A documentary film" by Marcin Podolec and above mentioned "Summer 2014" by Wojciech Sobczyk. The international jury decided to award Sobczyk's film a Special Jury Prize. During the closing ceremony the jury gave the following explanaition: A single tracking shot gracefully follows humanity's ungraceful history of brutality and bloodshed in a poetic and provocative manner that leaves us with no answears, only many unsettling questions about human nature.
This is the second award for the debut film by Sobczyk. It is worth to mention that last year the film was the only Polish title among the films nominated for the European Film Award. The EFA nomination was handed to the director during the 54th Krakow Film Festival in June last year.
