„BATHS” ANNOUNCED THE BEST ANIMATION OF INTERFILM BERLIN
It was on Sunday evening when the 30th, anniversary edition of Berlin based Interfilm short film festival reached the end. The Best Animation award went to “Baths” by Tomek Ducki.
This year’s competitive programme of the festival included four Polish films – two of them – aforementioned „Baths” and „A Blue Room” by Tomasz Siwiński screened as a part of international competition while “A visit” by Matej Bobrik and “Arena” by Piotr Bernaś formed the part of the documentary competition.
Yesterday evening, during the closing ceremony, the names of the winners were announced. The jury decided to present the Best Animation award to Tomek Ducki’s “Baths”. The latest animation by Ducki is one of the most frequently screened animated films of this year. So far it screened at more than 60 festivals abroad. The German award from interfilm is the 15th award the film receives.
More than 7000 films were submitted to take part in this year’s edition of the festival. Eventually 630 films produced in 70 countries formed this year’s programme. 64 films made in 27 countries were selected to screen as a part of international competition. Films were presented in eight thematic programmes of which two were traditionally dedicated to animated film.
It is worth mentioning the award that went to mockumentary “MC. Man of vinyl” made by Bartosz Warwas. The film received the second “Mauersegler” Short Film Award. The “Mauersegler” Short Film Award aims at filmmakers who can reveal their personal view of the events surrounding the Peaceful Revolution in East Germany and/or the German reunification. “Man of vinyl” was produced by Polish National Film School in Łódź in 2010.
