THE FESTIVAL OF THE POLISH CINEMATOGRAPHY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE OCEAN
The originator of the Festival in Austin is Austin Polish Society, that is, a non-profit organization, propagating Polish culture, history, customs and language. This year's, fifth edition of the festival takes place from 5th to 14th November. For over a week, diverse films will be shown in Austin – from animation to documentaries, from feature films to short film forms. Apart from the latest films, the programme is full of less known films as well as older ones – from 1950s or 1960s. The Festival offers a wide series of Polish animated films by such filmmakers as, among others, Witold Giersz, Daniel Szczechura or Władysław Nehrebecki.
Apart from this, several documentaries will appear in Austin. These include: “Rabbit a la Berlin” by Bartek Konopka, “Po-lin” by Jolanta Dylewska, as well as the films by Polish classical directors - “The Musicians” and “People on the Road” by Kazimierz Karabasz and “The King”, “89 mm from Europe” and “Anything can happen” by Marcel Łoziński.
There are also short feature films in the programme of the Festival in Austin. The viewers will have an opportunity to see such films as “Alien VI” by Borys Lankosz, “Training” and “Tomorrow I won’t Be Here” by Julia Kolberger and “Don't be Afraid of the Dark Room” by Kuba Czekaj.
