“PLANTARIUM” WINS AWARD IN HUNGARY
It was an excellent weekend for Tomek Ducki's film. Having won at the Alpinale Short Film Festival in Austria, it continues its winning streak with a statuette from the student jury of the Kecskemét Animation Film Festival in Hungary.
The founders of the Kecskemét Animation Film Festival set themselves the goal of promoting both Hungarian animation and the city of Kecskemét itself, where the Pannonia Film Studio was located. Initially, the event functioned more like a review, only to transform into a proper festival in 1993. Since then, its program has started to grow and new competitions have been included – including one for feature-length animated films.
The first editions of the event were aimed at local audiences, the current ones are open to international productions. One of the competitions featured Tomek Ducki's film – ultimately awarded by the student jury.
The awarded “Plantarium” takes place in a dark cave where a lonely man cultivates an unusual garden. One day, while pruning his plants, the gardener finds a little boy in a pot. His nails are long like wild shoots.
