„MAGIC MOUNTAIN” IN SAN SEBASTIAN

The latest full lengh animation by Anca Damian will screen in the programm of the 63rd edition of San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film is a Polish coproduction.

“The Magic Mountain” depicts the life of Adam Jacek Winkler Polish - a Polish mountaneer, partisan and activist. He was a Polish political refugee in France, who fought in Afghanistan with Massoud’s army. For many people, he was considered a madman, guided by his beliefs and love for independence, challenging death all the time. He wanted to give a meaning to his life, to die for something worthy.  Adam Winkler often lived outside the law, he was brave, but also impulsive, cynical and naïve.

Film had its premiere at Karlove Vary IFF in July where it received the Jury’s Special Mention. „Magic Mountain” is a coproduction between Romania, France and Poland. Filmograf is a Polish coproducer and the film received support from the Polish Film Institute, Krakow Festival Office, Krakow Film Commission and TVP - national Polish broadcaster.

In San Sebastian „Magic mountain” will screen as a part of non-competitive programme Zabaltegi, which every year reveals some of the most difficult to classify and suggestive proposals in today’s movie scene. Twenty four films will form a part of this unique section this year. Zabaltegi is opened for fiction, animation and documentary films made both in full or short lengh.

San Sebastian Festival is one of the top festivals worldwide. Every year the films are awarded in five competitive categories. This years, 63rd edition of the festival will be held between 18 and 26 September.
