ANIMATED FILM FESTIVALS IN FEBRUARY

This month, new festivals and chances to win awards await Polish animated films. Though there are relatively few festival screenings in February, just like in January, Polish animated films continue to be popular.

The month started with two screenings of animated films, organised by Animation Across Borders within the frames of the O!PLA Across the borders #2, presenting the winners of the Polish festival O!PLA to international audience. The first one was held in the Student Culture Centre "Studentski Grad" in Belgrade (February 4), and the second one at the largest animated film festival in India, Abai Fest (from 6 to 8 February). The programme of both screenings included 15 Polish animated films, shown and awarded at the O!PLA festival, among others, "Three Kings" by Anna Błaszczyk, "Ars Moriendi" by Miłosz Margański and "The Governance of Love" by Adela Kaczmarek. Within the frames of the festival in India, the winners of three festivals were shown - apart from O!PLA, the Annecy festival and the American festival Animation Torrent were also invited to participate.

Next festival screenings this month are held within the frames of the animated film festival Anima in Belgium. Two films by the students of Lodz Film School will compete for the laurels of the competition, namely, "An Incredibly Elastic Man" by Karolina Specht and "Of A Forest" by Katarzyna Melnyk. The festival ends on February 22, when the names of this year's winners will be announced.

This year's edition of the Animac festival starts on February 19.  As many as six Polish films participate in the programme of the Catalonian festival. The following films will compete for the laurels of the short film competition: "Beach" by Paweł Prewencki, "Fat and Skinny" by Aleksandra Brożyna and "Baths" by Tomek Ducki. The festival ends on February 22.
