FIRST EUROPEAN AWARD FOR „LOST SENSES”

A six minute long animation “Lost senses” produced by the based in Gdańsk GS Animation is doing very well at foreign film festivals. Last weekend the film received a jury award of the Portuguese Avanca Film Festival.

Held for the sixteen years now, Avanca Film Festival, every year presents and awards films in nine competitive categories choosing the best feature film, video, trailer etc.  This year there were fourteen films that competed for the Best Short Film trophy – among them two Polish titles – above mentioned “Lost senses” by Marcin Wasilewski and “Agnieszka” by Izabela Bartosik-Burkhardt.  Finally it was “Lost senses” that scored the main award. This is the first European award for the film that was acclaimed the Best Short Animation of the 40th SIGGRAPH conference in Los Angeles last month.

Animation based upon the script by Robert Jaszczurowski and Łukasz Kacprowicz is a short story about an encounter in an abstract world, á la Giorgio De Chrico. A Man is about to meet a Woman in an abstract flying city. Excited, running like a parkour practitioner, he is climbing up on the buildings. But one carless moment is enough to make him lose his senses. And his chance.

The Portuguese Avanca was held between 24th and 28th July. More on the official website
