March is a great month for both enthusiasts and creators of animated films. The festival season is taking off and the number of screenings is increasing. Quite a few Polish animated films have received invitations to major international film events. Be sure to check out which of our productions have a chance of capturing the hearts of cinema fans around the world.
As many as two Polish animated films were invited to the competition segment of one of the most important independent cinema festivals. Soon Daria Kopiec's “Your Own Bullshit” and Yelyzaveta Pysmak's “My Fat Arse and I” will get the opportunity to bring back awards from South By South West.
It was an unusual year. Almost all organisers had to change their festivals' formula or – at the very least – postpone the events. Fortunately, the pandemic hadn't stopped the industry for good and our animated films still had the opportunity to appear at numerous international festivals taking place in a hybrid or online form. W brought home virtual awards from – among others – Cannes, Slamdance, DOK Leipzig, the Czech Animfilm, the Portuguese FEST - New Directors, New Films Festival, or the animation festival in Hiroshima. It is worth remembering that industry meetings and reviews were held in addition to screenings. Take a look at our review to learn about all the most important events of last year.
The animated documentary by Katarzyna Warzecha wins another award. This time, the film was recognised by the jurors at Flickerfest.
