The best plays cannot be directed. We witness Krystian Lupa's struggle in rehearsals for Kafka's "The Trial" in a film that reveals his intimacy and demand for complete trust. Lupa urges actors and viewers to leap with him, to hit the bottom or dive into a depth, to embrace a fear of failure, with a hope for the miracle of the Theater.

Graduate of the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing and the Institute of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw. He is a co-initiator of the “ę” Society of Creative Initiatives and worked as a lecturer in the Film Kindergarten of the Wajda School as well as a chairman of the Film 1,2 Association. He made a film series which includes How to Make a Movie (2010) and Muzykoteka szkolna (2011). His documentaries "Diary of Journey" (2013), "The Last Day of the Summer" (2010), "7 x Moscow" (2005) were screened and awarded at many festivals. In 2016 he was nominated for the European Film Award for his film "21xNew York".
