"KILL IT AND GO OUT OF THIS TOWN" AT THE FESTIVALS IN MELBOURNE AND OTTAWA

Mariusz Wilczyński's new production will be presented at two extremely prestigious festivals. The animation received invitations from the Ottawa International Animation Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival. Both events will take place online.

Ottawa International Animation Festival is the oldest and most important animation event in North America. The history of the Canadian festival began in 1976 with the first edition of the Biennial International Animation Festival. The Ottawa Festival will take place from September 23 to October 4, 2020

Melbourne International Film Festival is not only a festival, but a cultural showcase of the city and Australia. The first edition was held in 1952, which makes this event one of the oldest in the world. Every year, the most interesting feature films, documentaries and animations from around the world are presented there. The festival lasts almost three weeks. This year's edition of the festival will be held on August 6-23.

Mariusz Wilczyński's feature-length directorial debut, that is invited to the festivals is an autobiographical impression, a reminiscence of childhood images, in which the memories of his deceased parents and his hometown of Łódź come to life. The animatio is voice by top Polish actors including, among others, Krystyna Janda, Andrzej Chyra, Maja Ostaszewska and Małgorzata Kożuchowska.

The world premiere of "Kill It and Leave This Town" took place in the Encounters competition at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival.

Escaping despair after the loss of his loved ones, the protagonist hides in a safe land of memories, where time stands still and all his loved ones are alive. Over the years, a city develops in his imagination. One day, heroes and idols from his childhood, known from literature and cartoons, who are eternally young in the minds of subsequent generations, arrive uninvited. When the protagonist discovers that everyone has grown old and eternal youth does not exist, he decides to return to real life.
